"My Visit to Grandma Judy's" by Shannon Myers Kelly

Do you visit your grandparents’ house? Is the weather warm or cold when you visit? Do you get to stay all day or overnight?

I read a picture book this week titled, My Visit to Grandma Judy’s.

The story is about a little girl named Amanda who visited her Grandma Judy during the summer. Amanda tells all about the neat stuff they did and found at her Grandma Judy’s house. The black and white pictures have new objects and creatures to discover on each page. You will have to read the story to discover if Amanda finds creatures at her grandma’s house that you would or wouldn’t find at your grandparents’ house.

Writing Adventure fun

Amanda discovers some things from nature. List the things Amanda finds. Then list the things you would find at your grandparents’ house. Are there any differences?

Collect or take a photograph with a grown ups help of some things from nature while visiting your grandparents. From the things you collected or photographed make a collage or picture to hang on your bedroom wall. Write a story about collecting or photographing your visit.

Amanda does some fun activities with her Grandma Judy. List the activities they do together. Are the activities they do different or the same things you would do with your grandma?

Write or draw a story about your favorite thing to do while visiting your grandparents.

Please share with Jewel you story by posting it in the comments section!

Until next time, happy writing!
